Our Story
For the founders of Barsati Living, the road to interior design wasn’t a straight line (but somehow always meant to be).
Ramya’s path to design began with a simple, childhood connection to home. Growing up outside India, she found herself constantly searching for pieces of home abroad. If you ask her for her happiest memory, she’d probably take you back to monsoon summers spent in India - where the air smelled of rain, everything was a vibrant green, and spaces felt truly alive. Even then, she found herself wandering through the homes of family and friends, drawn to the rooms that felt personal and told a story.
But life initially took a different path. Ramya went on to become a Chartered Accountant, spending eight years climbing the corporate ladder at the Big 4. In 2020, she decided to take a brief pause from the fast-paced corporate world. Most of that time was spent remodelling her parents’ house - and being completely immersed in the beauty, textures, and details of design reawakened that long-lost love. By 2022, she knew it was time to step away from her corporate career to build something she truly cared about. She's wizard when it comes to blending nostalgia and structure to design spaces that feel deeply comforting and personal!
Rajat’s path to design followed a similar rhythm. If you ask him where it started, he’d probably trace it back to his childhood too - spent wandering nature trails, playing tennis, or playing with the wind on his bike. He’s always appreciated things that are well-crafted, active, and connected to the outdoors.
Professionally, Rajat’s focus revolved around law and real estate. He spent his days around properties, handling everything from strategy to selling. Yet, he always found himself drawn to the soul of the spaces themselves. It wasn’t long before his real estate clients started asking him for design and layout advice. What began as casual suggestions quickly sparked a realization: his true passion wasn't just in trading spaces, but in reimagining them as well. He’s the guy who sees the hidden potential in a room!
While we were both informally working on design projects, it was only when we got married that we decided to combine our shared passion. And so, we took a leap of faith and launched Barsati Living.
We didn’t have formal design degrees, so we built our foundation from the ground up. We spent hours studying, learning from scratch, and practically living on construction sites to decode every technical detail alongside our teams.
Today, we run our studio on simple values: honesty, a deep respect for the timeless luxury of the past, and immense gratitude for the people who trust us with their homes.
