Our Story
For the founders of Barsati Living, homes have always been more than beautiful spaces. Helping people find them and shape them simply became a natural extension of that love.
For Ramya, it all began with a simple, childhood connection to home. Growing up outside India, she found herself constantly searching for small reminders of home. If you ask her for her happiest memory, she’d probably take you back to monsoon summers spent in India - where the air smelled of rain, trees stretched over busy streets, and homes felt warm. Even then, she found herself wandering through the homes of family and friends, quietly observing the spaces that felt personal and wondering what made them feel that way.
But life took her on a different path. Ramya went on to become a Chartered Accountant, spending eight years climbing the corporate ladder at the Big 4, gaining experience across finance, tax, regulation and all things money. In 2020, she decided to take a brief pause from the fast-paced corporate world. Most of that time was spent remodelling her parents’ home - Somewhere between studying floor plans, choosing materials and imagining how each room could better support the family's everyday life reawakened that long-lost love. By 2022, she knew it was time to step away from her corporate career to build something she truly cared about. She’s a wizard when it comes to reading people, blending nostalgia and translating that into homes where life feels easy, familiar and deeply comforting.
If you ask Rajat where it all started, he'd probably trace it back to his childhood too...spent exploring nature trails, playing tennis for hours, or simply feeling the rush of the wind on his bike. He's always been drawn to places and things that are thoughtfully made, closely connected to nature, and have that rare ability to make you slow down, breathe a little deeper and simply enjoy being there.
Professionally, he built his career around law and real estate, working closely with property, negotiations, mediation and transactions. Over the years, he developed an instinct for recognising the strengths of a home long before anyone spoke about furniture or finishes. Over time, clients no longer came to him just to buy a property, they wanted his perspective on whether it felt like the right home, and what it could become. That's when he realised what he loved was helping people find a place that truly felt like home. He’s the guy who sees the hidden potential in a room!
Shaping Barsati
After working together on a number of projects, one thing became increasingly clear.
We weren't simply interested in designing beautiful spaces.
We loved the entire journey.
Finding homes with character.
Helping families look beyond polished finishes.
Seeing possibility where others saw work.
Understanding how people truly wanted to live.
And then thoughtfully bringing those homes to life.
That shared belief eventually became Barsati Living.
Neither of us came from a traditional design background, and perhaps that's one of the reasons we see homes a little differently.
We built our understanding of design from the ground up...spending countless hours studying, learning, asking questions and, more often than not, practically living on construction sites alongside the craftsmen and teams who patiently taught us how things are really built.
And every home deepened our belief that good design isn't about following trends, it's about understanding people and creating spaces that quietly support the way they want to live.
Barsati sits at the intersection of Real Estate Advisory and Interior Design.
Sometimes families come to us after they've already found a house.
Sometimes they come to us before they've even started looking.
Either way, our role remains the same.
To understand the people first.
To help them find the right home.
And then thoughtfully shape it into one they genuinely love coming back to.
Today, our studio continues to be guided by a few simple values...
honesty, a deep respect for nature and the timeless beauty of the past, endless curiosity, and immense gratitude for every family that chooses to trust us with one of the biggest decisions of their lives.

Outside of work, you'll usually find us doing the same things that inspire Barsati in the first place...walking through old neighbourhoods, discovering homes tucked away behind big old trees, stopping to admire a beautiful veranda, wandering through antique markets, or taking the longer route home simply because it's prettier (the image on the left is one of our latest happy discoveries:)
Perhaps we're just people who notice beauty a little differently.
